Typical Problems that Need Gutter Repair in Seattle

Rain gutters may not cover a huge part of your house, but they are one of the most functional elements in a roofing system. They may seem too simple to be given too much attention. However, they actually need regular maintenance more than you know. No matter how much to try to prevent gutter damages, some serious factors could destroy them. By this time, you will need services for gutter repair in Seattle. What are the common types of problems with gutters that will need professional repairs?

1. Piled up Debris – some debris from the environment may fall on your roof and slide down to the gutters. If the gutters don’t get regular cleaning, the debris may pool in and cause another problem. Cleaning the gutters may be something you can handle personally, but it would require the use of ladders that could be dangerous for beginners. Most households hire contractors to do the cleaning for them.

2. Clogged Gutters – this is a problem that is aggravated if the previous one is not managed very well. The debris could clog the gutters during rainy days. If that happens, the water may just flow over the gutters and not drain well to the downspouts. In worst cases, it causes damage to your home structure.

3. Gutter Leaks and holes – at times, there may be small leaks or holes in the gutters. The leaks can be patched up. The sooner you do the patching, the better. However, if you let it stay that way for a while, the patches may get bigger and cause you bigger problems.

4. Sagging Gutters – This is a common type of problem with gutters, especially if they have been on for a very long time. Bad weather may cause the gutters to sag, especially with strong winds or very heavy downpour. At times, the gutters don’t only sag. They are actually pulled away from the house. If you don’t fix gutters immediately, they could be dangerous as they could fall off any time and might hurt somebody.

5. Misaligned gutter pitches – the water from the gutters drain to the downspouts. In some cases, the gutters don’t align well to the downspout and cause overflowing over the edges of the gutters. Sometimes, you may not know that the gutters are poorly pitched to the spout. The water could just pool in the gutter even without clogs.

6. Poor downspout drains – while you check your gutters, you also have to check on the downspouts. Make sure they drain properly. If not, the water might seep into your basement and ruin your home structure.

7. Gutter installation – there are houses that don’t have rain gutters at all. In this case, you will need a good hand to do the installation for you. Installation needs professional skills to make sure that the gutters and downspouts are placed in optimized spots around the house.

These are the common problems that need gutter repair in Seattle. If your house has one of those problems, you may need to call a contractor to fix the problems for you. They can be easily found over the internet. You may need to find general contractors in Seattle or just look directly for gutter repair service providers.

  2. We've had this system for about 2 years now and love it. So nice not to have to clean out all the leaves, seeds, and gunk twice a year, and still have more up there. We recently had a service call to fix a loose section of screen. The service tech came out the same day and had everything taken care of right away. Couldn't be happier.
